WhatsCook.ing at a glance.
- What it is
- An AI nutrition coach for iPhone. It plans a week of meals from your goals, your tastes and what is in your kitchen, reads every meal you log nutrient by nutrient, and builds a shopping list led by your nutrient gaps.
- How it works
- You answer a questionnaire once (diet, needs, goals, tastes, household and body metrics) and add your pantry by photo or by typing. The app writes the week, with a picture for every recipe; a plan takes a few minutes to write. A planned meal you cooked logs with one tap, anything else from a photo or a few typed words.
- Platform
- iPhone, iOS 15 or later, in English. No Android app.
- Countries
- On the App Store in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia and India.
- Launched
- 22 September 2026, version 1.0.
- Category
- Health & Fitness, with Food & Drink as the secondary category. Intended for people 16 and over.
- Price
- Free to download. $29.99 a month or $179.99 a year on the US App Store; other App Store countries show local prices.
- Free trial
- 7 days on both plans, through your Apple Account. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends and you pay nothing.
- Diets and needs
- Nine diets, from omnivore to keto, paleo and low-FODMAP, and thirteen needs such as gluten free or no added sugar. Every meal is written to the diet and needs you set, and its ingredients are then checked against five diet rules and eight common allergens. The check reads ingredient names, so anyone with a medical allergy still checks every label.
- Nutrition
-
Every logged meal is read for calories, protein, carbohydrate, fat, fiber, sugar and sodium, plus iron, calcium, vitamin C, vitamin D and omega 3. Four pillars of 25 points each (calorie fit, protein, nutrients and heart) score the day.
Calorie targets use the Mifflin-St Jeor formula, vitamins and minerals follow NIH recommended intakes for your sex and age, and heart limits are informed by AHA and DASH guidance. A recipe's calories and macros are checked against USDA FoodData Central reference data when at least half of its ingredients match.
- BioAge
- An estimate in years, built from your age and the nutrition of the meals you log, smoothed over your history. A nutrition-derived estimate, not a medical measurement, not a diagnosis and not a substitute for a clinician.
- AI and privacy
- Anthropic writes the plans, swaps and shopping suggestions. Google Gemini reads the photos you take and the food you type, and draws the recipe pictures. The first time anything would go to either, a sheet names both, and neither receives anything until you tap Continue. Nothing is sold and nothing goes to advertising.
- What it does not do
- No Android app, no recipe import, no barcode scanner, and no grocery ordering: store links open a search at Walmart, Instacart, Amazon Fresh and more US stores, and anywhere the list copies as plain text. It does not test or measure anything in your body.
